About

Josh is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the History Department at the University of Chicago, but this is just one of the many communities from which he derives a sense of identity. People from many other cultures, including the Greeks' both ancient and modern, have preferred not to define oneself primarily in terms of one's professional occupation, but instead to identify according to what one actually "does." Josh spends a lot of his time thinking about how ancient people spent a lot of their time thinking about the meaning of life and the role of religion in it, but outside of the library he likes to ask these same questions of modern communities as well. When he is not just thinking, he likes to run and travel and write and take pictures and people-watch and discuss ideas with pretty much anyone about pretty much anything. You will find information on the various aspects of Josh's identities throughout the links at the bottom of this page. Please do take a moment to reach out via email and let Josh know how you identify yourself and what you actually "do."
